Hippitty Hoppitty

The Easter Bunny is like Santa Claus; wind, rain, snow, or sleet, will not keep him away! You would think the weather would be sunny in April, for some odd reason I was under the impression it was spring. I think April showers should not bring May flowers on Easter. I think it should be mandatory that the weather is in the mid 70’s. Can’t the Government do something about that?

Anyways… Even though the weather was yucky and there was no outside fun, the day was still very nice. We hosted Easter at our house this year and it was exactly (besides the weather) how we wanted it, relaxing with the ones we love. The kids dyed eggs with their cousin Tyler on Saturday and Easter morning they hunted eggs in the house. Our families (mostly adam’s) came over mid afternoon for a BBQ potluck, followed by relaxing family time. The older cousin’s enjoyed playing a few games of pool. While the younger guys decorated sugar cookies. All in all, it was an awesome Easter!

BASEBALL!!

FINALLY… Little League season! Last year was Mason’s first year playing recreational baseball. The first game started out a little rocky with it being freezing cold and Mason refusing to get out of the car. But, it was smooth sailing after that! I had so much fun watching those little guys (5 and 6 years old) running around the bases with batting helmets on that weight just as much as them. They looked like miniature bobble heads! Even though he played soccer (my sport growing up) shortly after baseball season ended, I was still sad it went by so quickly. What can I say, I’m a baseball mom. I drive an SUV. :)

This season Mason moved up a level; from Rookie to Single “A”. With that came: a new coach, teammates, and rules. At this level it’s about having fun, no score keeping. GAG! Yes, I’m one of THOSE parents. Why is it so bad I want my child to win succeed?

So far it’s all working out wonderfully. Mason is having a blast and comes by it naturally. Of course he gets his athletic ability from me. LOL. Go Athletic A’s!!!

Happy Birthday Bubba

I’ll never forget the day, June 7th 2003. We (adam and i) were on our way to a wedding when I got the call. I was given news that would forever change our lives. “This is Kaiser calling for Brianne Taylor, we would like to inform you that your test results came back positive. You are pregnant.” GASP!

Mason Adam,                                                                                                           I didn’t know what life meant until I held you in my arms for the first time. I didn’t know such a little person could have such a big heart. Before you were born I thought I knew what love felt like, I thought I knew what love meant. That all changed when I looked into your eyes for the very first time. I never realized how much love I could experience for one person. You have forever changed me.

You are my first born, something so unique that can never be taken away. There will always be a special place in my heart just for you. You are the perfection behind my mistakes. You are the reason why I have become the person I am today. You are my shining star. Your unconditional love has taught me lessons I would have never learned if God hadn’t blessed me with you.

I know at times I push you hard and at times I forget you are still only a child. I only do this because I see big things in you and want you to succeed in every single thing you do. Your future is only as big as you dream, so please dream big; dreams do become reality. And if there is ever a time you get scared, just remember, I will be there 100% of the way cheering you on. It’s the least I can do for all that you’ve done for me. I will forever be grateful of you. I love you more then life itself.

Happy 6th Birthday Mason Adam!!!

Yum, TREATS!

This past week was Mason’s last week before he tracked off for a WHOLE :( month. So since his class wouldn’t be in school to celebrate his Birthday or Valentine’s Day they did it early. Which then meant I had to make treats for two different days. I’m not the type of mother that is anti treats/sweets but I’m also not the type that allows my children to eat junk all day. Like most things in life (including my politics), I do my best to find a happy medium.

Instead of making the standard size cupcake I make mini cupcakes. This way it’s less sugar just by the cupcake being smaller. Which leads to even less sugar because you are using less frosting. And I’m sure, just like my kids, most kids only like to eat the frosting. Leaving a bunch of half eaten cupcakes at the end of a party for me to eat. Ugh, wasting is bad! :)

For their Valentines Day party I decided to make rice krispies treats. I colored them red and cut them into hearts using the Wilton heart shaped cookie cutter. Then I labeled red bags for each of the kids and there you go! Nothing fancy like I wanted to do, but who in their right mind doesn’t enjoy a rice krispie treat?

Of course my favorite part was the left-over scraps. YUMMY!

Tooth Fairy

The Tooth Fairy visited our home for the first time over the weekend. After a couple of weeks of Mason wiggling his little front tooth, it finally came free. Waking up to his toothless smile gave me mixed emotions. On one hand my heart sank because it’s a reminder that my “little” boy is growing up (way to fast). And on the other hand all I could do was smile (it was to early to laugh) because it was so darn cute. I wish I had my camera by the bed so I could have taken a picture of his new toothless smile holding what the Tooth Fairy left. WAIT A MINUTE! When did the Tooth Fairy start leaving $2? She never left me $2! I remember getting quarters and maybe a dollar when I got older. What the heck is she going to leave when he’s 10? I’m glad the recession isn’t hurting her, perhaps I need to start pulling my teeth out. I wonder what she would give me?

Goal Payout

Picture 073

Perhaps Adam and I need to rethink Mason’s goal pay out! It started out a dollar a goal from us, then the grandparents and uncle’s decided to join. By the end of soccer season he’ll have more money in his piggy bank then we do in our savings account! He may just find some IOU's in there. :)

Fairytale Town is not so fairy…

Oh crap! Was the first thing that went through my head today when I meet up with Mason’s kindergarten class at Fairytale Town. When I signed up a month ago as a parent helper I was thinking it would be fun to tag along since it was his first "big kids: field trip. And the fact he was riding a school bus was a little nerve racking for me. Fun? Yeah, not so much!

Not only was there our school bus load of 3 kindergarten classes with 20 students in each, but there was at least another 5 busses full of kids. What was Fairytale Town thinking? Yeah, they are probably hurting for money, but come on! Couldn’t they split up the days? Then to make matters worse, they didn’t have enough staff on hand to collect the monies from all the different teachers. Shouldn’t this have been done beforehand? It was absolute chaos. At one point I honestly thought the kids were going to take over, they were trying to break down the iron fence!

Let’s just say things didn’t get much better once we were inside. It reminded me of Disneyland during summer vacation, PACKED. Out of all the times I’ve been to Fairytale Town (and I've been to Fairytale Town), there has never been a line to go down any of the slides. Kids were running all over the place, people falling, and parents yelling to slow down. Once it was time to leave most of the kids were breaking down because they were hungry. Some (yes my kid was involved) even started chanting “EAT EAT EAT” while their teacher was taking pictures in the castle. Um... LOUD!!

I can say there was one (and only one) time on this field trip I did really enjoy, and that was lunch time. Those kids were so quite I think I may have heard a cricket or two. :)

So, what I learned on my first field trip experience is: Mason can ride the bus anytime he wants, there will be NO birthday parties in the castle at Fairytale Town nor will I (meaning Adam will have to go) be attending any birthday parties in the castle (cough cough), and always pack a flask to help keep me sane (teasing other parents with this flask will also be fun).

It's good to know I can learn something new everyday! :)

Make-Up Game Update

The boys kicked butt!! 6-0! I guess the irritating mother shouldn't have complained about the rain, her son could have at least said they scored one. Better luck next time. :)~

First Soccer Game...

Good nights rest? Check. Uniform clean and laid out? Check. Water bottle full and in the refrigerator? Check. Rain gear packed? What, rain gear? That’s right, first official soccer game of the season and not only does it rain but there has to be lightening storms too!Of course all of this starts after I have already loaded the two younger munchkins up and I’m on my way out to the field. But what makes it even better, the game doesn’t get called until I have unloaded the little ones and I’m almost to the field. I know what your thinking, “Why didn’t I call Adam before heading out?” Um, hello, of course I did! His response was, “Rain? What rain?” Now I have a better question. Why didn’t he call my cell phone and tell me to stay in the car? Just asking. :)

So the official ruling after 15 minutes of play, a 1-1 score, and one irritating parent complaining that their child was getting wet; game was canceled due to lightening. Funny thing is, once the game was canceled most of the kids stayed out on the field having a blast playing soccer in the rain. Of course the irritating parent rushed their child off the field so fast a lightening bolt wouldn’t stand a chance against her. This is probably just a myth, but I always thought lightening normally struck the tallest object. Which in this case I have no problem with the game continuing because we all know it would never hit Mason!

IMG_6562-2 IMG_6563

Instead of waiting the 10 minute storm out, we have to make up the game Monday night and I’m totally bummed because Adam and I both will be missing his game due to our work schedules. I have a feeling we’ll be making a Costco run this weekend and buying a 5 dozen pack of eggs. And all of those eggs will not be used for making omelets if you know what I mean. Maybe I'll even let the other father's know what I'm planning because I have a feeling they're not to happy to be missing opening season of Monday night football.

P.S. Thank you to all the family and friends that came out to support Mason at his first game. I am truly sorry you were unable to watch a full game.
